Unit Overview

524 Conducting a Management Project is a unit within the CMI Level 5 module that covers managing and handling projects from start to finish. The leader must be able to effectively manage and conduct a management promotion aligned with achieving the organisational goals and objectives. This involves being able to understand the process of planning and allocating the resources to the project to ensure that it is successfully accomplished. Leaders must also have the ability to effectively conduct a risk assessment and develop measures that focus on contingency planning and project evaluation which are critical in ensuring the project is able to achieve the desired goals.

It is critical to ensure that the leaders are also able to effectively communicate with the stakeholders on the management project that they are pursuing to mobilise relevant support which ensures that they achieve it successfully. Also, these roles associated with conducting a management project successfully require the leaders to understand critical principles revolving around the activities. It also needs them to develop skills that are aligned with addressing the immediate needs of their organisations and areas of responsibility in line with the projects.

524 Conducting a Management Project is a unit that is designed to effectively improve the knowledge and understanding of the leaders on their role in achieving the desired results in management projects. The leaders are provided with training and information that helps them to develop communication skills, reporting abilities, and resource management approach that contribute towards successfully completing management projects to contribute toward the performance of the organisation. This unit helps to improve the understanding of new and aspiring leaders on approaches they can use to effectively handle the duties assigned to them within the workplace. It is taught in 30 hours of guided learning and contributes 10 credit values towards the completion of the module.

Planning for Management Project

This area of learning focuses on laying the basic foundations of conducting a management project. The learners are guided to effectively establish the aim, objectives, and scope of the management project which outlines the actual steps to take when implementing the plan. Learners are also guided to understand the research approaches such as exploratory, descriptive, statistical, or other forms of research approaches that are used within the workplace.

The learners are also guided to understand the different methods of data collection which include the use of questionnaires, observation, and other methods that can be sued to collect data for the process of management project. Learners are also made to understand the roles of different stakeholders within the organisation which could influence the ability to complete the management project.

Conducting Management Project

This area of learning focuses on the actual implementation of the identified techniques to study and evaluate a specific research subject the area of learning covers the approaches to conducting research which involves identifying a study sample and using identified methods of data and information collection getting feedback from these samples.

The learners are also guided to understand the different methods of data analysis which could include qualitative analysis or quantitative analysis depending on the nature of information that is being analysed for the research process. Learners are guided to understand the relationships between the information collected which helps them to conduct the interpretation which aims at drawing conclusions and recommendations on the research subject. The learners are also guided on the strategies that they can use to evaluate the alignment of the research findings to the aim and objectives of the study.
